Mitchell’s Bay singing contest this weekend

The annual Mitchell’s Bay Singing Contest will be held this upcoming weekend on July 30 and 31.

Here are some more details about the event:

– There will be 8 singing classes based on age groups. Each class will participate in a preliminary competition on Saturday July 30 Youth (7 under through 13 and 56yrs and over) starting preliminary at 2:30pm. Adults, (14 years and up) preliminary at 7:00pm. Judges will announce the five [5] top scoring competitors in each singing class who will return to compete in the finals Sunday night July 31 starting at 7:00pm.

– Prizes awarded based on entries, $5,000.00 Maximum. All finalists returning Sunday will receive cash award

– All registrations and registration fees must be received no later than Wednesday, July 27th. Only Pre-Registration will be accepted. To register, fill out the Singing Contestant Application part of this flyer and mail with your registration fee to the address as provided. Cheques will be made payable to Dover Kinsmen.

– IN EVENT OF MAIL STRIKE, Email Registrations will be accepted; payment must be made in cash, prior to contestant performance.

– All successful contestants are required to perform a different song in the final competition.

– If a contestant in any age category has won (1st) first place for three consecutive years in that particular age category, that contestant is not eligible to enter in year 4.

– Contestants may enter ONE [1] Class only.

– Singing Contestants will be allowed ONE [1] false start without penalty in the Preliminaries. 25 POINTS off the total score will be deducted for a false start in the Finals unless it is due to technical difficulties.

– Registration fee of $20.00 per applicant must be paid in advance. Registration fee is non-refundable.

– Contestants must provide their own Karaoke CD and must be submitted upon arrival. Only one acoustical instrument is allowed.

– The type of music for this contest is Country Music. Failure to comply may result in point penalty regardless of voice quality.

– Contestants will be judged by a 3 person judging system. Judging will be marked on presentation, timing, pitch, clarity, voice control, and stage presence. Each judgment will be scored from 100 points.

– Judges decisions are FINAL.

– Contestants MUST compete in the order in which they appear in the program. Failure to appear after being called 3 times in succession will result in disqualification.

– Any disorderly conduct on the premises will result in disqualification.
