Chatham-Kent scores high marks in magazine rankings

Chatham-Kent was named the second “Most Affordable Place to Do Business in Canada” and was among the top 25 overall in the 2016 ranking of Canada’s Best Places for Business by Canadian Business and PROFIT.

“This ranking reinforces what we already know about Chatham-Kent, this is an innovative and thriving community that is a destination of choice for businesses,” said Michael Burton, director of economic development in Chatham-Kent.

“Chatham-Kent is an affordable place to do business because it is ideally situated along the Highway 401 corridor, with ready access to global markets for trade and investments. As a healthy, safe, accessible and affordable community, we make it easier for large and small businesses to start-up and grow.”

In the second annual ranking, Chatham-Kent placed 13th amongst “Canada’s Best Places for Business.”

Produced by two of the country’s best-known business media outlets – Canadian Business and PROFIT – the 2016 Canada’s Best Places for Business ranking factors in more than 20 indicators of cost, market trends and business friendliness collected from various sources and participating municipalities.

The ranking is designed to help entrepreneurs and executives make smarter decisions on where to start, expand or relocate their enterprises.

“It takes the support of an entire community to foster successful businesses,” said James Cowan, Editor-in-chief of Canadian Business and PROFIT. “The municipalities on our ranking show a clear commitment to business-friendly policies and economic development. That’s good news for their business owners, entrepreneurs and residents.”

The ranking is based on a survey of 55 communities.
