WAMBO 27 Saturday 104

An annual fixture at the Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing is expected to be a highlight once again this year.

Matt Thomas, the manager of the car show at WAMBO, says they have about 70 cars pre-registered, and are expecting 200 to 250 cars this year.

“You can expect lots of cars and lots of fun,” Thomas said.

WAMBO gets kick started on Friday evening with the Terry Glover Memorial Cruise.

“It’s going to start in the Canadian Tire parking lot,” Thomas said.

“We are going to be leaving at about 7 p.m. and we are going to take a short cruise around town and go to downtown James St. and then around the nursing homes and out through Dresden and back. So that’s going to be a nice cruise.”

There is no cost to join the parade, people just need to meet at Canadian Tire prior to leaving at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, if people haven’t registered for the car show in downtown Wallaceburg, they can register the day of the show.

“The registration tent is at the water fountain. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday,” he said.

“The fee is $20 to show your car on James St. That includes getting a nice wooden dash plaque and also gets you in for some door prizes that we have as wel. There is also a chance for your vehicle to win a trophy.”

Thomas said their is also a swap meet going on at WAMBO this year.

“Something new we are trying this year is a swap meet we are trying to get together,” he said.

“The swap meet is going to be on the south side of town. We would like to get a lot of people that want to sell a lot of antique car parts out to get them out and sell them. That will be on Saturday at 8 a.m. just like the car show. They can come set up at 8 a.m. and the fee to sell your parts is $10.”
