The Baldoon Brassie Lassie Red Hat Club was proud to make a donation to the Wallaceburg Splash Pad Committee recently.

The $350 donation, which came from proceeds of club activities, was accepted by chair Chris Young.

Elaine Gatt, spokesperson for the group, said she was very happy the group decided to donate to such a worthwhile community project.

“This is such a great project for our ‘Baldoon’ community, many of us have family in the area and we know they will enjoy the benefits of the Splash Pad. We just might have to host a meeting there next year once its built,” she said.

Young said the committee has passed the halfway point of its fundraising goal of $200,000.

The committee is enthused by the response of the community to date.

Everyone has been so engaged in this project, it is good for the entire community.

“It’s like an old fashioned barn raising, everyone comes together and does what they can, and together it just happens, Young said. “The WAMBO committee will be out at WAMBO this weekend, so please stop by their booth.”

The municipality of Chatham Kent is on board and is in the process of completing the quotation process for new playground equipment for the park, a sizeable investment in the local park.

To date many businesses and local families have stepped forward to help out.

Young said the committee has many fundraisers in the works.
