Update: OPP incorrectly report death of driver

* Correction: The Chatham-Kent OPP has issued a correction to the condition of one of the drivers involved in a head-on crash this morning on Highway 40 outside of Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent OPP say on August 19, 2016 around 10:30 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Fire Service, and Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a two vehicle head-on collision on Highway 40 near Green Valley Line.

A northbound Ford Minivan collided with a southbound Chatham-Kent EMS Ambulance.

The driver of the minivan, Geoffrey Brereton, 60-years-old of Chatham was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Information was received that Brereton had succumbed to his injuries. However this information was incorrect.

Brereton remains in critical condition.

The driver of the ambulance was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.

Highway 40 between Dover Centre Line and Bush Line is now open.

The Ontario Provincial Police regrets any inconvenience this information may have caused.
