The annual Tartan Tour event was held earlier this monthk in Mitchell’s Bay, where senior Wallaceburg students welcomed the new Grade 9’s to high school.
Nancy Schinkelshoek, a teacher at the school and the event organizer, said it was an excellent day last Thursday, September 15.
“Perfect weather and an amazing group of both leaders and nines,” she told the Sydenham Current.
“The leaders did a great job of bringing energy, excitement and enthusiasm to the day and know how lucky they are to be a part of being able to welcome our new Tartans to the school.
Schinkelshoek said all but a few Grade 9 students attended.
“I am positive they all walked away knowing a lot of new faces and with an increased confidence in being in high school,” she said.
“Our goal is to get them engaged early on so that they enjoy school and see success. Tartan Tour truly helps us get things started in the right direction.”
The event was held outside at the park and pavilion in Mitchell’s Bay.
