Update from Environment Canada:

Original story: Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent, as there is the potential for very strong wind gusts today.

Very strong and gusty southwest winds are expected this afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front. Winds gusting to 60 or 70 km/h are likely in many areas.

Scattered showers and the odd thunderstorm are likely this afternoon ahead of the front.

Even stronger wind gusts to 80 km/h are possible in these showers.

Warnings are not anticipated at this time as the winds are not expected to exceed 90 km/h.

However, Environment Canada will monitor the situation closely.

Winds will quickly diminish this evening with the passage of the cold front.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
