Whether you relay on the Farmer’s Almanac, the meteorologists from Environment Canada or maybe you are escaping to the warmer climates of Florida or the Caribbean… either way, everybody is wondering what the weather is going to be like this winter.

On average, Chatham-Kent receives just over 79 centimetres (7 feet) of snow each winter, according to the Municipality.

A major snowfall can produce an accumulation of 20 centimetres (8 inches) of snow with large snow drifts from the high winds.

The winter maintenance cost for a 20 centimetre snow event is estimated at $500,000.

On average, Chatham-Kent has 22 days annually with snow fall.

Wallaceburg artist Sue Renaud, from Suebieshive on ETSY, dropped off a large assortment of peg and headstock charms she has made at The Gear Box in downtown Wallaceburg.

As a ukulele player herself, she always wanted to find a way to personalize her stringed instruments without painting, wood burning, or sticking decals/stickers on them. And now everyone can too, without damaging their stringed instruments.

Each tag is made from melted down recycled plastic each cut and designed by hand.

Check out The Gear Box on James St. in in Wallaceburg to check out more of Renaud’s designs.
