A Christmas message from the Queen

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Back on April 21 of this year Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 90th birthday. The iconic monarch has been quoted so many times throughout the years and on this blessed Christmas Day of 2016 it is appropriate to hear one of her statements made back in 2014.

Here is what she said: ‘For me, the life of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, whose birth we celebrate today, is an inspiration and an anchor in my life. A role-model of reconciliation and forgiveness, he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance and healing. Christ’s example has taught me to seek to respect and value all people of whatever faith or none.’

What really stands out to me about this reigning monarch of the Commonwealth is her clear-cut declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.

She makes no bones about it.

Her ability to lead and walk in wisdom is rooted deeply in her Christian faith.

Unlike so many other world leaders, many of whom became tyrannical despots, her tenure has not been marred by scandal and egotism.

She has steadily walked the walk of faith all these years and that pathway has steered her in the right direction.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

We would do well to follow the queen’s sterling example.

Have a blessed Christmas today with your family and friends, and don’t forget to give yourself a gift, too: the commitment to walk by the standard of God’s Word!
