Let’s take a look at what is going on this weekend in the area:

– The Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame annual dinner and induction ceremony is being held on Saturday, January 28 at the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg. Tickets are available for the event from any Sports Hall of Fame member, at Kim Murray Insurance on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg and from Gus Lalonde at 519-628-5508. Three-time Olympic gold medalist in women’s hockey Gillian Apps will be the keynote speaker at the event. – Guitarists Michael Schatte and Tom Lockwood are set to perform in Wallaceburg during a concert at the Jeanne Gordon Theatre on Saturday, January 28. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the concert. Both musicians are bringing their full bands for this performance. People can buy tickets at the usual spots: CKXS 99.1, James Street Eatery, McKellers Flowers in Dresden and from the Wallaceburg Museum. If you plan on bringing a group, call Jay Smith at 519-627-0007 ext. 227 in advance and have a table reserved. Before the show at night, Schatte and Lockwood will be teaming up to hold a guitar workshop from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., right at the Theatre. Tickets to the workshop are $40 and that includes a ticket to the concert that night. Call Smith or e-mail him at jsmith@ckxsfm.com to reserve your spot.

– The Sydenham Field Naturalists are holding their Bickford Oak Woods Winter Walk on Saturday morning. Meet at 10 a.m. at the corner of Hwy. 40 and Bickford Line. Activities include cleaning out and repairing wood duck nesting boxes and see a beaver lodge while hiking through Bickford at its wintery best. Bring the family, pack a lunch. Hot chocolate and cookies to follow.

– The Wallaceburg Veterans and First Responders and Families Support Group is holding a round table discussion about PTSD and Mental health issues on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. The group invites you to attend their discussion to give insight into what the issues facing soldiers, veteran, first responders and people in general. RSVP by e-mailing robthegolfnut@yahoo.ca
