The Lambton OPP have seized more counterfeit money, after two separate incidents over the weekend.
Police officials say on Friday February 3rd, at just after p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, conducted a traffic stop on Discovery Line in Enniskillen Township for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
During the traffic stop, the officer recognized a male party in the vehicle who was wanted by the Lambton OPP.
The male party was arrested and a subsequent search of the male and vehicle located $9,230 of suspected U.S. counterfeit currency in various denominations.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Petrolia man, 48-year-old Petrolia man and 42-year-old man from
Forestwere all charged with possessing counterfeit money.
All three face future court dates.
In a separate incident on Sunday February 5 just before 5 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, observed a suspicious vehicle parked in an alleyway on Petrolia Line, Enniskillen Township ON.
OPP approached the vehicle and observed a known male party sitting in the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, OPP located $400 of suspected U.S. counterfeit currency in various denominations and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and marihuana.
As a result of the investigation, the same 48-year-old Petrolia man was arrested again and charged with:
– Possessing Counterfeit Money
– Possession of a Schedule I Substance
– Possession of a Schedule II Substance
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
OPP are reminding the public making or passing counterfeit notes is a criminal offence.
