Rainfall warning in effect across Chatham-Kent

A rainfall warning is in place across Chatham-Kent, as rain, heavy at times is expected.

Environment Canada officials say the frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Rain will begin early Tuesday morning and end Tuesday evening.

Rainfall amounts of 25 to 35 mm are expected with this event.

There may be a brief period of freezing rain overnight or very early Tuesday morning before the rain begins.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
