A man, who is banned from Walmart in Wallaceburg, was chased down by police and arrested on Monday.
Police officials say last night at approximately 5 p.m. police responded to Walmart in Wallaceburg as staff recognized a man from a previous shoplifting incident and knew he had been banned from the store.
When the man saw the officer, he ran out the front door and towards a car dealership across the street.
The man then ran through the parking lot and jumped on the trunk of a Dodge Dart in an attempt to scale over a fence to get away from the officer.
By doing this, he caused approximately $1,800 in damage to the vehicle.
When caught, the man resisted arrest by struggling with the officer and refusing to comply with the officer’s instructions.
Control of the man was gained and he was arrested.
The 39-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and resisting arrest.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
I *really* wish you would publish names. Even if it is done in a later story, I think citizens would like to know who should not be trusted in our community.
