The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit has mailed 900 suspension orders to parents of students at Chatham-Kent schools who still have incomplete immunization records.
This number has been reduced from the almost 2,000 notices that were mailed out in mid-January.
Suspensions will be effective as of April 4th, 2017 for anyone who remains overdue at that time, Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials stated.
Before booking any appointments, parents are asked to check their children’s immunization records to see if they have had the required shots.
Many times the child has had the shots, but they have not been reported to Public Health.
This requirement remains the responsibility of the parent, officials say.
If there is no record of the shot, individuals who have a Healthcare Provider are encouraged to book an appointment to receive the missing immunizations as soon as possible and report the shots to the Health Unit after receiving them.
For those without access to a Healthcare Provider, CKPHU will be holding clinics on the following dates by appointment only.
– Thursday, March 16th, 2017 in Ridgetown
– Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 in Tilbury
– Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 in Wallaceburg
– Monday, March 27th, 2017 in Chatham
