It will be an Irish themed Business After Hours event tonight (March 16), hosted by the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce. The networking event will be held at the CBD CLub in Wallaceburg, and runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Make sure you try one of the CBD’s Irish/Green beers!

Adult and Teen Winter Library Contest winners

The Chatham-Kent Public Library is pleased to announce the winners of the branch prizes and the Grand Prize winner following the conclusion of the ‘All that Glitters’ Adult and Teen Winter Library Contest.

CKPL congratulates the Grand Prize winner who is Mary Jean McDonnell. McDonnell won a fantastic assortment of items from our CKPL Pop Up Shop including a copy of the CK Reads title Girl Runner by Carrie Snyder.

The Adult and Teen Winter Library Contest is an initiative aimed at encouraging literacy and promoting the public library and the services it offers in the community. This year was a success, as they received ballots from book readers and listeners and movie watchers hoping to win the grand prize.

March Break activities in full swing locally

March Break is starting to wind down, but there is still a lot going on in Dresden and Wallaceburg. The Wallaceburg Museum and the Wallaceburg Library are holding different activities all week long. There is free skating at the arenas in Dresden and Wallaceburg, and free swimming at the Sydenham District Pool. For a full list, click here.

CKHA Open House in Wallaceburg

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is holding a town hall/open house coming up in Wallaceburg. The event is open to the public and will be held on Thursday, March 23 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Canadian Belgian Dutch Club. This will be an opportunity for the community to personally meet the provincially-appointed supervisor, the new CEO and newly hired and appointed vice presidents and medical leadership team.

Hunting for a Cure

Recently the ‘Hunting for a Cure’ group supported the Chatham-Kent Hospice with a donation of $6,000.

The donation consist of funds raised through multiple events including hosting food booths at the Dover Tractor Cruz Parade in Pain Court and the Baseball Tournament at the park in Grande Pointe as well as their annual Chicken and Sliders Supper held at St Peter’s Hall. Private donations were also made.

“We are thankful for the generosity and dedication of the ‘Hunting for a Cure’ group to helping our community and more specifically the families who call hospice home,” said Jodi Maroney, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation Executive Director.

In the first 9 months of operations, Chatham-Kent Hospice has served over 170 families in our community.
