Impaired driving charges were laid in Wallaceburg early this morning.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say at approximately 12 a.m. a man was driving a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV in Wallaceburg.
An officer on general patrol observed this vehicle allegedly travelling all over the road on McNaughton Avenue.
A traffic stop was initiated, however, the driver did not stop until his car struck a mailbox on Gillard Street.
Police say no injuries were suffered nor damage to the mailbox reported.
Once stopped, the officer spoke with the man who had a strong odour of alcohol on his breath.
A 23-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later release with a court date of Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
