Camera gear stolen at Dragon Boat Festival

The long-time organizer of the Sydenham Challenge Dragon Boat Festival wrapped up an amazing day on Saturday with a disappointing and unfortunate situation.

Brian Armitage said near the end of the festival, the majority of his camera gear was stolen out of his car.

“What a fantastic day at the Dragon Boat Festival… unfortunately with every good thing, something just goes plain wrong,” Armitage posted on social media.

“During the tear down and clean up, I asked my son to place my camera back in my camera bag. I used my remote to unlock my car which was less then 50 feet from where I was standing. Once he singled me I hit the lock button and set my keys on the table at the festival tent. Maybe it didn’t lock, who knows.”

Armitage added: “I was out of site for maybe 15 minutes. When I returned it was gone. Thinking someone grabbed my keys, unlocked my car and made off with my camera bag.”

Armitage said he is offering up a cash reward for the return of the following equipment:

– Tamrac Camera bag. Dark green and black in colour. Back pack style.

– Canon EOS 70d Camera body.

– Canon 580 EX 11 Speedlight (flash unit)

– Canon EF 70 – 200 lens

– Canon Fisheye lens

– Canon fixed lens

– Plus a variety of other camera gear
