Brett Kissel and James Barker Band coming to Sarnia

Officially Today, July 4th, 2017, it was announced that Brett Kissel and James Barker Band will be the Final Two Acts to perform at the Inaugural Bluewater BorderFest Music Concert in Sarnia’s Centennial Park.

Brett Kissel was recently named 2017 International Artist of the Year, and Brett had the weekend of his life in London, Ontario, last September, where he picked up four Canadian Country Music Association Awards, winning Fans’ Choice, Male Artist of the Year, Interactive Artist of the Year and Producer of the Year.

Organizers say having worked with Brett Kissel previously and keeping in touch with him, Brett was the first artist we reached out to, discussing his thoughts on us moving forward with the original idea and concept of the Bluewater BorderFest Music Concert Event. After receiving some kind words. motivation and asking Brett about artists he thought would be good a good fit, as well as seeing what his schedule was like, we were glad to work with his schedule to secure him to perform with us at Bluewater BorderFest; the only hesitation being we would wait to announce him playing Bluewater BorderFest, until after he performed at the Trackside Music Festival which took place this past weekend in London, Ontario.

Brett recently this spring was featured on CBC’s, Hockey Night in Canada singing the United States National Anthem for Edmonton Oliers Home Playoff Games. Brett gained a great amount of Canadian and American exposure after his microphone cut out during the Anthem and he had the crowd join in to assist him finishing the anthem. Brett was also part of CBC’s Canada 150, Coast to Coast Television Special, performing on Canada Day from Banff, Alberta. After performing in London on July 2nd, Yesterday July 3rd, Brett was featured on the cover of the London Free Press and many that attended the Trackside Music Festival are acknowledging his performance as the best performance of the entire Trackside Event. We could not agreed more, as we are very pleased to bring Brett Kissel back to Southwestern Ontario again in 4 weeks, so that he can show everyone in the Sarnia and Lambton County Area why he is one of the Top Performers in Canadian Music Today!

James Barker Band is one of the Top, New, Up and Coming Bands in Canadian Country Music and as of last week they held the #1 song ” Chills” on The Canadian Country Music Billboard Chart.

The event is being held on July 28 and July 29.

Poll: Should Remembrance Day be a statutory holiday in Ontario?

We asked our reader’s this question, after the House of Commons passed legislation making Remembrance Day the same legal status as Canada Day and Victoria Day.

However, it is mostly a symbolic move, as the Federal government cannot make November 11 a statutory holiday across Canada.

This is because any changes made to the status would fall under provincial jurisdiction.

Remembrance Day is currently a holiday in every province and territory except for Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Federal employees will get the day off.

Reports say the Royal Canadian Legion are worried about the move as it may change people’s attitudes and they may not bother making an effort to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Here is how our reader’s voted:

Yes 76.88% (123 votes)

No 20% (32 votes)

Undecided 3.12% (5 votes)
