Grandfather attacks speeders with baseball bat

A Raleigh grandfather is faces charges after allegedly attacking some speeders with a baseball bat.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on Friday, July 7, at approximately 7:18 p.m., officers were called to a truck stop in Chatham in regards to an assault.

Police say according to the caller, a man followed their vehicle apparently upset about the speed it drove past his grandchildren.

The man confronted the occupants of the vehicle at the truck stop assaulting the passenger and then assaulting the driver with a bat, police allege.

The passenger suffered minor injuries but the driver required medical attention for the injuries he sustained.

Police located the male and arrested him.

The 58-year-old Raleigh Township male is now facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

He was released with a future court date of July 28, 2017.

  1. So, are you telling the world that it is OK to go screaming down a street with children playing regardless of the posted speed? I understand that the grandfather was upset and possibly took it to far but is just another side effect of taking down the “children playing in area” signs.
    Question, is it just Wallaceburg that lost their signs or did other Communities loose them as well. What about the deaf child in area signs?
