Seven contestants are vying for the crown and hoping to be the winner Dresden Exhibition Ambassador Competition.

Meghan Gibbons, Hannah Brooksbank, Erin Wilbur, Jillian Ball, Madison Stocking, Tylene Gall and Katelyn Law are all in the running.

The winner will be announced during the opening ceremonies of the 142nd running of the fair on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Last year’s winner was Rachel Cameron.

The prizes, include:

– $500 bursary to the winner

– $300 bursary to the 1st Runner Up

– $100 bursary to each remaining contestant

– A Tiara from Babcock Jewellers

– Bouquets of flowers from McKellar’s Flowers

– Photo sessionsand framed portrait from Captured Moments

Premier Wynne to visit Chatham-Kent

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynn is visiting the municipality today.

Premier Kathleen Wynne will be at the Chatham-Kent Museum at 2:45 p.m. and Truly Green Farms at 3:45 p.m.

At 3:30, the premier will be presented with a gift from the municipality.

Entries still being accepted for Dresden Exhibition

Today at the Dresden Exhibition Fairgrounds entries for the event will be received from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. sharp.

All classes will be judged today, Thursday, July 27 at 6 p.m.

Wallaceburg Animal Shelter bingo fundraiser tonight

The Wallaceburg Animal Shelter is holding a charity bingo fundraiser tonight, at 6:30 p.m.

The event will be held at Riverview Bingo in Chatham.

Tickets are $15.

When you redeem a ticket you get to play every game, specials included.

It is a $23 value.

You can get tickets at the Wallaceburg Animal Shelter or at Pet Valu in Wallaceburg.

Dresden Rotary Summer Concert Series continues tonight

The Rotary Summer Concert Series continues on Thursday evening in Dresden.

A barbecue starts at 6 p.m. and the entertainment runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wallaceburg’s Three’s A Crowd will be providing entertainment this evening.

Snye Creek Singers and Native Dancers at the Wallaceburg Library tonight

Chatham-Kent Public Library, in partnership with the Child and Youth Planning Network, presents Indigenous programs for families as part of TD Summer Reading Club in July and August. Sign up for TD Summer Reading Club and enjoy many free and fun programs this summer.

Tonight, the Snye Creek Singers and Native Dancers will be performing at the Wallaceburg Library.

The show begins at 6:30 p.m.
