In a field that saw seven contestants vying to become the next Dresden Exhibition Ambassador, Tylene Gall was crowned as the winner on Friday night.

“I would just like to say thank you to the Dresden Agricultural Society,” Gall said during an acceptance speech.

“This is so exciting for me. I appreciate this community so much. I would like to thank Shirley McKerral for all her hard work she put into this. Rachael Cameron, Taryn McBrayne for all the help they gave us and to all these amazing contestants. Thank you to Lucille (Laprise) for her continued hard work with the Dresden Exhibition.”

Gall added: “Thank you very much and I will do my very best to support and show that our community is the amazing town that it is.”

Meghan Gibbons, Hannah Brooksbank, Erin Wilbur, Jillian Ball, Madison Stocking, and Katelyn Law all took part in the competition.

Cameron, who was last year’s winner, provided some details about Gall during the opening ceremonies.

“Tylene grew up on a family farm along the Sydenham River and attending LKCS for her Grade 12 year,” she said.

“Tylene has been on the girls basketball team and travelled to Florida with them in Grade 10. She also participated in a student exchange to Taiwan and hosted a student for three weeks after travelling to Taiwan herself. She showed her exchange student what life on the farm really meant.”

Cameron added: “Tyler was also part of the Dresden Community Church mission to the Dominican Republic, building a house for an elderly couple. Tyler has a part time job at Tim Hortons and was on the LKCS’s student council and prom committee. She is a level 8 in piano and plays at her church as well as singing in the youth choir. Tyler also enjoys running and spending time with her family. Next year, Tylene will be attending the University of Windsor for civil engineering.”

McKerral said this is their 44th consecutive competition.

“Thank you to the Dresden Agricultural Society, Christal Wills and her dad, Rick Clark and all of the sponsors of this event for making this event possible,” she said.

“We have seven very, very talented women sitting here tonight. Did you know that everyone of them received awards at graduations at LK in late June? Those awards amounted to $9,223 and I have had so much fun bragging about my seven girls up here.”
