A Dresden man, who allegedly eluded police on Sunday, now faces a long list of charges.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say yesterday at 3:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol on Base Line, just north of Kent Bridge Road, observed a vehicle travelling in a south bound direction on Base Line that had no license plates.
The officer activated the emergency lights on his police cruiser to conduct a traffic stop, however, the un-plated vehicle allegedly continued travelling south bound at a high rate of speed.
The officer also observed the vehicle begin to weave in-and-out of traffic, becoming a danger to the public, police say.
Therefore, the officer stopped following the vehicle.
At approximately 3:50 p.m. another officer stopped the vehicle on Base Line.
Police say the driver was the same man who was observed just 20 minutes earlier, who failed to stop for police.
As a result of the traffic stop, the 27-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with the following offences:
– Flight while pursued by a peace officer
– Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
– Drive while suspended
– Drive motor vehicle without insurance
– Drive motor vehicle without license plates
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
