Significant rainfall possible in Chatham-Kent

A special weather statement has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as significant rainfall is possible tonight, Sunday and Sunday evening.

Forecasters say a low pressure system currently developing over the Western United States will move towards Southern Ontario during the weekend.

“Appreciable amounts of rain are likely in many areas especially Sunday and Sunday evening,” Environment Canada officials say.

“Rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are possible. There is also the risk of thunderstorms which would cause locally higher rainfall amounts.”

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
