Snowfall warning issued in Chatham-Kent

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warning across Chatham-Kent, as snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected.

Forecasters say for those dreaming of a white holiday, you will get your wish.

“Snow at times heavy is affecting portions of southwestern Ontario,” Environment Canada officials say.

“Latest analysis suggests that portions of the southwest will receive snowfall amounts higher than originally forecast, particularly those areas close to the Lake Erie shoreline. Near 15 cm of snow is now expected thanks to extra moisture coming in off of Lake Erie. The snow will taper off later tonight.”

Visibility is expected to be limited making travel hazardous.

In addition, cold brisk winds on Monday will likely create some local blowing snow as well.

Travelers are encouraged to adjust their plans if possible.

“The forecasters at the Ontario Storm Prediction Centre wish you warm holiday greetings and a happy, healthy and safe 2018,” Environment Canada officials stated.
