Release conditions violated

A Walpole Island woman was arrested this week after allegedly violating her release conditions.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say in September 2017, a woman was released from custody with conditions.

One of the conditions was to abstain from communicating with a man that is known to her.

In November 2017, police responded to a motor vehicle collision in Dover Centre allegedly involving the same woman.

Through investigation, officers learned that she was with the man at the time of the collision, police allege.

This was in direct violation of her release condition.

However, since medical attention was required, alternative arrangements were made, police say.

Police say on Wednesday at 10 a.m. the 20-year-old Walpole Island woman attended the police station and turned herself in.

She was arrested and charged with failing to comply and later released with a court date of January 23, 2018.
