15-25 mm of rain expected, fog advisory ends

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent, as 15 to 25 mm of rain is expected today and tonight.

Forecasters say periods of rain will affect much of southwestern Ontario. Meanwhile. the fog advisory has ended for the region.

“The rain may occasionally fall heavily at times, although there may also be significant breaks in the precipitation from time to time as well,” forecasters say.

“In the winter when the ground is frozen, rainfall warning are issued when rainfall amounts in excess of 25 mm within 24 hours are expected. At this point, it appears that most areas will not exceed those values, although a general 15 to 25 mm is likely.”

The area is being monitored for potential rainfall warnings., Environment Canada officials stated.
