Wallaceburg Tartan swimmers heading to OFSAA

For the 14th year in a row, the Wallaceburg Tartans are headed to the OFSAA Swimming Championships.

Emily Tapp showed how hard work pays off to qualify in the Sr. Girls 200 metre and 100 metre freestyle.

Shona Branton swam an all-time personal best to qualify in the Open Girls 100 metre breaststroke.

SWOSSAA was held in Windsor on Tuesday, February 13.

Here are the full results for the Tartan Swim Team at SWOSSAA:

– Emily Tapp finioshed in 3rd in the Sr. Girls 200 metre freestyle and 4th in the 100 metre freestyle, qualifying for OFSAA in both events

– Johnathon McCaughrin finished 5th in the Sr. Boys 200 metre freestyle. He was the only LKSSAA swimmer to make SWOSSAA.

– Kaitlyn Bechard was 16th in the Jr. Girls 50 metre freestyle

– Tallie Laprise was 8th in the Sr. Girls 50 metre freestyle and 7th in the 100 metre freestyle. She missed OFSAA by one second in both races.

– Alyssaa Wadsworth finished 9th in the Sr. Girls 100 metre breaststroke and 3rd in the 100 metre IM, a personal best time by two seconds.

– Megan Maxim was 4th in the Sr. Girls 100 metre breaststroke and the 50 metre Fly, a personal best time, just missing OFSAA by 0.7 seconds.

– Shona Branton was 2nd in the Open Girls 100 metre breaststroke, her all-time personal best and an OFSAA qualifying time. She also finished in 5th in the 100 metre IM with a personal best time, just missing OFSAA by 0.8 seconds.

– The Sr. Girls Freestyle Relay team of Tallie Laprise, Alyssa Wadsworth, Megan Maxim, Emily Tapp finished in 4th place, missing OSAA by 1.1 seconds.
