Crash involving a school bus

Charges were laid after a crash involving a school bus on Monday morning.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say at around 8:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a single motor collision on Merlin Road just south of Riverview Line.

Police allege that the bus driver was travelling northbound on Merlin Road when he lost control of the bus, left the roadway, causing the bus to roll over onto its side.

Four students were on board at the time of the collision, police say.

Two students were transported by ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as a precaution.

The bus driver, an 82-year-old Chatham man has been charged with careless driving.
