Wallaceburg Lakers assistant coach joins the Cobras

One of the Wallaceburg Lakers assistant coaching coaches is leaving the team.

“The Wallaceburg Lakers are disappointed to announce that Assistant Coach Shawn Simpson has chosen to accept a coaching position with the Kent Minor Midget ‘AA’ Cobras,” said Darryl Lucio, President of Hockey Operations in a press release.

“We appreciated Shawn’s positive attitude this past season and will miss his influence on the young men building this team. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

The Lakers finished with a 3-37-0-0 record on the year, last in the West Stobbs Division.

Ritch Kanally will return as the team’s general manager and head coach Ryan Paxton has also committed to returning for the 2018-2019 season.

The Lakers are looking for game day volunteers, trainers and behind the scenes volunteers for the upcoming season.

For students, all hours may be used toward the compulsory high school volunteer hours.

Anyone interested is asked to contact Lucio at ‭519-365-4615 or my5l@hotmail.com.

Spring Camp for the Lakers is April 20 and 21.

Contact Kanally at 519-792-4423 or oldkanzz@gmail.com or Lucio to take part.
