4-on-4 basketball tournament in support of cystinosis

A 4-on-4 basketball tournament is being held in Wallaceburg in support of cystinosis.

The tournament will be held at Wallaceburg District Secondary School on April 20 and 21.

This will be the third annual tournament held by a group of WDSS alumni, who play pickup basketball at the Kinsmen Gym and at the high school each week.

“Each year we like to donate to a cause,” said Nick Persyn, organizer of the tournament.

“Our first year we donated to the Fields family, their son Brayden was in a terrible car crash. Last year we picked the Wallaceburg Fireworks and this year we decided to fundraise for a local family the Campbell’s whose children both have a very rare disease called cystinosis.”

Persyn said they are still looking for a few more players to participate in the tournament.

The entry fee is $40 and all the proceeds are going toward cystinosis research.

Anyone interested can text/call Persyn at 519-437-7131.

Spectators are welcome to watch the games on the Saturday as well.

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
