Methamphetamine found on alleged thief in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege that around 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man riding a bicycle without a light in the area of Mount Pleasant Crescent in Wallaceburg.

The officer recognized the man and knew that he was currently wanted for attempt theft and trespassing by night stemming from an incident in May on Highbury Crescent where he attempted to gain entry into a vehicle during the early morning hours.

The man was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of methamphetamine along with stolen property from two other vehicles.

The 29-year-old Wallaceburg has additionally been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
