The Wallaceburg Red Devils are moving on to the second round of the playoffs. The Devils will face Elora in Round 2, after ousting the Hamilton Bengals in five games on the weekend. Coach Justin Durston says the team has worked hard all year. The series with Mohawks gets started on Friday night in Elora, with Game #2 coming back to Wallaceburg on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith will be joining the 5th NHL team of his young professional career. The 25-year-old forward signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $650,000 at the NHL level. He played in 21 games for the Buffalo Sabres last season where he had 3 points, 2 goals and 1 assist. He also played in 46 games for the AHL’s Rochester Americans, posting 41 points, 15 goals and 26 assists. Griffith has 19 points, 8 goals and 11 assists, in 79 career NHL games for Buffalo, Florida, Toronto, and Boston. If Griffith doesn’t crack the Jets roster out of training camp, he would join the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
