A hay bale blaze broke out on Eberts Line on Monday night.

Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services officials say firefighters responded to 9299 Eberts Line at around 7 p.m.

“Firefighters from Station #7, Station #4 and Station #12 were busy working to contain a big blaze burning up hay bales on Eberts Line through the night,” stated Whitney Burk, public safety officer, in a media release.

“The flames broke out just before 7 p.m. on Monday. About 150 hay bales were involved in the fire and required heavy equipment to separate the large pile.”

Burk said at 9:54 a.m. on Tuesday morning that fire crews will be monitoring the scene for a couple of hours, but officials said there is no risk to any property or people.

The approximate loss is unknown and the cause has been ruled undetermined.
