$1-million in property saved after MSSC Chatham blaze

Over $1-million in property was saved a fire at MSSC Chatham on Friday.

Fire officials say Chatham firefighters responded to 201 Park Ave. E. just after 2 p.m.

“When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy white smoke coming from the roof of the factory,” fire officials say.

“Crews quickly entered the building and then gained access to the roof to extinguisher the large furnace on fire.”

Fire officials say all employees quickly and safely evacuated the building and there were no injuries.

Damage is pegged at $35,000 and the cause has been ruled accident.
