Thunderstorm warning in C-K & Sarnia-Lambton

Update at 10:04 p.m. – Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

This cluster of severe thunderstorms is located from 8 kilometres southeast of Wallaceburg to 11 kilometres south of Chatham to 15 kilometres south of Kingsville to 20 kilometres north of Belle River, moving northeast at 50 km/h.

Locations impacted include:
Chatham, Belle River, Lakeshore, Tilbury, Essex, Cottam, Stoney Point, Comber, Lighthouse Cove, Mitchell’s Bay, Grande Pointe, North Buxton, Dresden and Arkwood.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

This severe thunderstorm is located near Comber, moving northeast at 50 km/h.

This severe thunderstorm will be near:
Chatham around 10:15 PM EDT.

Locations impacted include:
Chatham, Tilbury, Stoney Point, Comber, Lighthouse Cove, Mitchell’s Bay, Grande Pointe, Merlin and North Buxton.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Forcasters say at 8:52 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

This severe thunderstorm is located 20 kilometres southwest of Walpole Island, moving northeast at 40 km/h.

This severe thunderstorm will be near:

Wallaceburg around 9:30 PM EDT.

Locations impacted include:

Wallaceburg, Walpole Island and Port Lambton.

Officials say take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
