There was a buzz in the air at the John D. Bradley Centre on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 for the second annual CK Works! Community Job Fair.

A total of 718 local job seekers came out hoping to make a connection with one of 45 employers looking to fill over 300 positions.

“There are a lot of great jobs available here in Chatham Kent, and it’s exciting to see so many people out to learn more about them” stated CKWPB Project Manager, Kristy Jacobs.

“It shows that our workforce is engaged and looking for opportunities, and it reminds us that the “hidden job market” is one all job seekers really need to be accessing! Sometimes, when you’re in the middle of your own job search it can feel as if there aren’t any jobs out there. Events like this, ones with a variety of positions and levels, across so many sectors prove that there are. You just need to know where to find them.”

Job seekers included individuals who were new to or re-entering the workforce and those who were currently employed looking to explore other options within their field.

The employers present stated that they were very pleased with the number and quality of job seekers they met with over the course of the event.

In addition to meeting employers, job seekers were able to network with community organizations who support job seekers (including Goodwill Career Centre, Canadian Mental Health Association; St. Clair College, Job Worx, and the Chatham and Wallaceburg Employment Resource Centres.
