Wallaceburg sisters donate their locks

Two Wallaceburg sisters cut their hair recently and donated their locks to the Angel Hair for Kids program, which is part of the Canadian based Child’s Voice Foundation.

With the help of Shannon Smith, The Essential Oil Stylist, Gabriella, 8, and Jayden, 6, donated 23 inches of hair.

“They wanted to donate the hair to give the other girls hair as a present for them for Christmas,” Tammy Wenzel, the girls mother, told the Sydenham Current.

Every year thousands of Canadian children lose their hair to cancer treatments, alopecia and other medical causes, the Child’s Voice Foundation website states.

The Angel Hair program is strictly for children and is completely free for the those receiving a wig.

The program relies on hair and monetary donations to make custom hair replacements that look just like a child’s natural hair.

It takes between 10 and 12 donated ponytails and $1,000 to make one wig.
