The Wallaceburg Novice Rep Lakers came home from the Fort Erie Winter Challenge as champions this past weekend.

The team went undefeated at the tournament, which had teams from all over Ontario taking part.

The young Lakers squad beat out the Dunville Mudcats in a nail biting final game.

The Mudcats, who are coached by Wallaceburg native and former Wallaceburg Lakers captain Jeremy Sharpe, put up a tough battle.

However, Wallaceburg put forward a solid team effort, combining offensive force, great defence, and stellar goaltending.

“The Novice Lakers are hitting their stride at the right time with OMHA playdowns just around the corner,” Ryan Allaer, coach of the team, told the Sydenham Current.

“Congratulations and good luck the rest of the season.”
