The Wallaceburg Lakers fell to the Amherstburg Admirals on Saturday in an outdoor game played at Lanspeary Park in Windsor.

The Admirals skated away with a 5-0 victory.

Patrick Timpany stopped 23 of 28 shots in net for Wallaceburg.

Cameron Lynds stopped both shots he faced in 6:51 minutes of action in relief for the Lakers.

Despite the loss, the Lakers organization was happy with the turnout of the outdoor contest.

“The Wallaceburg Lakers want to say an extreme ‘thank you’ to the following people for all their hard work with the ‘Outdoor Shinny Game’ this weekend in Lanspeary Park,” the club posted on social media.

“Mark Hagerman and Darryl Lucio for dreaming up this idea, workers at Lanspeary Park for the great maintenance that they did with the arena area and ice surface (fastest driving of a Zamboni I have seen), the people who drove from Wallaceburg and area to Windsor as well as the fans from Amherstburg.”

Lakers officials added: “As well all of the volunteers that came from Wallaceburg and area to assist the Lakers in the game day work. Lastly, to our competitor on the ice, the Amherstburg Admirals… thank you for a fun game as always.”

Wallaceburg now has a 1-30-0-2 record on the season.

They will be facing the Mooretown Flags on Wednesday night in Wallaceburg for their next match-up.

The night will be the Lakers’ ‘Restock the Shelves’ night for the Salvation Army, as the club holds a non-perishable food drive.

Every person’s donation will equate to a ballot for a gift basket from Basso’s No Frills in Wallaceburg.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
