From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin
I was reading through some news stories one night about a week before Christmas when I came across a very humorous incident.
There was a woman in Pennsylvania who was caught on surveillance video stealing a large Amazon delivery box off a man’s front porch.
She moved quickly and the video showed how she expertly maneuvered the box over the porch rail and then was able to run off with it.
There was just one problem: this box was not a delivery from Amazon but rather a holding vessel for a load of cat poop in an enclosed bag and clumped litter.
Boy, would this lady ever have been in for a surprise!
This is a classic example of reaping what you sow.
Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
The lesson is clear.
We cannot expect to do a bunch of terrible stuff and then expect to live a blessed life.
If you want people to respect you, don’t go and criticize them when their back is turned.
If you’re hoping for a raise at work, don’t show up late all the time and then be lazy in your work.
The Golden Rule contains wise words to live by, as spoken by Jesus in Matthew 7:12: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.”
Perhaps we should practice a little of that this week!
