Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last week, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Wallaceburg.
As police arrived, the man fled in a vehicle and failed to stop as the officer attempted a traffic stop.
Through investigation, police identified the man and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday afternoon, the 33-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while under suspension.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
