A new restaurant has opened in Wallaceburg, as A&W officially opened their doors on December 6, 2018.
Dev Patel, the franchise owner at the new restaurant located at 67 McNaughton Avenue, told the Sydenham Current he is happy to be running his business in the community.
“I was living in Calgary and I moved here and I like the location,” Patel said.
“They offered me the location and I like the location, I like the town. So I decided to move here. I like the town and the community I live in. I believe that wherever I live I just want to serve good food, to good people.”
Patel said it took five days to get the restaurant and staff ready to serve the community, once the construction was complete.
“We started here the second of December, we started training and got everyone hired,” he said.
“We started advertising here and also we got people from town. We were training for four or five days and the sixth of December we got opened here at the location and since then it has been one and a half months.”
Patel said he did not have to look far when filling out his staff.
“All of the people are from here,” he said.
“We are working with them.”
Patel said the restaurant opens at 6 a.m. everyday.
“We serve breakfast at 6 a.m. and also we serve breakfast sandwiches, plated breakfasts, classic breakfast and burgers too,” he said.
“Special plated breakfast. It’s from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and it’s classic breakfast… with classic eggs, hash brown, tomatoes, bacon, sausage links and toast.”
Patel said the breakfast options range in price from approximately $5.99 to $7.
Officials with the restaurant chain told the Sydenham Current back in October of 2016 that they were looking to open in the summer or fall of 2017, at the location between Dollarama and the Great Canadian Oil Change on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Company officials say A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. is 100 per cent Canadian owned and is one of the most recognizable brand names in the Canadian food service industry.
A&W is the nation’s second largest hamburger restaurant company with 860 locations coast-to-coast.
Officials say A&W is a leader in the Canadian burger industry, serving beef raised without the use of steroids or hormones, chicken raised without the use of antibiotics, eggs from hens fed a vegetarian diet without animal by-products, and pork raised without the use of antibiotics.
