Dangerous driving, flight from police, meth possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg with no rear license plate.

The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Elm Drive, however the man failed to stop and continued driving at a high rate of speed while disobeying stop signs at Turnbull Avenue and Chestnut Drive.

The man finally pulled over as he drove back onto Dufferin Avenue.

The man was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

Through investigation, the officer further learned that the man was not licensed and the front plate attached to the vehicle was not registered to any vehicle.

A 44-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, use plate not authorized for the vehicle, driving with no license and drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of February 28, 2019.
