The Wallaceburg Midget Rep Lakers hockey team hosted the first two games of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Midget ‘B’ finals last weekend in Wallaceburg.

The Lakers split the games with the Penetanguishene Flames.

The Flames won Game #1 by a score of 5-4, while the Lakers took Game #2 by a score of 4-1.

Game #3 and Game #4 will be held this weekend in Penetanguishene.

The first team to six points (two points per win) will be crowned as provincial champions.

Scott Gorry, one of the team’s coaches, thanked the community for the tremendous support in Wallaceburg last weekend.

“On behalf of the Wallaceburg Midget Rep coaching staff and players, I would like to thank the entire communities of Wallaceburg and Walpole Island for your overwhelming support through the large crowds this past weekend and donations for our bus to Penetang,” Gorry said on social media.

“To name everyone would be a mistake because I would forget someone the support has been unbelievable and very appreciated. Now hope we can go to Penetang next weekend and bring home a championship for both communities. Proud to call Wallaceburg / Walpole our home. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

If necessary, Game #5 would be in Wallaceburg on March 29 and Game #6 would be the next day in Penetanguishene.
