During the past eight months the Port Lambton Athletic Association has been working hard on their ‘2019 Jersey Drive’ canvassing local business and sourcing out a new style and colour jersey for their entire youth baseball organization.

“The new 2019 Youth Pirates Jerseys were unveiled this week and we couldn’t be happier in how they turned out,” Jeremy VanRuymbeke, vice president for the Port Lambton Athletic Association, told the Sydenham Current.

“This was a project that started last year when we realized we were in need of new jerseys and how our existing stock pile was dwindling and just plain worn out. Port Lambton Baseball has grown in the past few years with a surge of new registrations and this is a record year for us with the amount of kids wanting to play Pirate Baseball.”

VanRuymbeke added: “But jerseys are not cheap and we knew this was something the Port Lambton Athletic Association could not accomplish on our own while still keeping our registration costs low. With fundraising efforts and donations from our many great sponsors we were able to raise $9,000 to replenish our existing stock of jerseys while at the same time changing the design, colour scheme and material.”

VanRuymbeke said the jerseys turned out amazing.

“We feel everyone will love them once we all see them out on the ball diamond this summer,” he said.

VanRuymbeke said the Port Lambton Athletic Association would like to officially thank their sponsors below:

– UA Local 663

– CMF Group

– Sombra Optimist

– Bartech Rigging

– CF Industries

– Sombra Lodge

– P.L.A.A

“We wouldn’t have been able to accomplish this without (their) support,” VanRuymbeke said.
