George “Scub” Moran

J. George “Scub” Moran, a former resident of Port Lambton, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Trillium Villa, Sarnia on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the age of 75.

George is the son of the late George and Mary Ellen “Nell” (Johnston) Moran. Beloved husband of the late Gail (Miller). Loving father of Larry Moran (Cynthia), Dennis Moran (Cindy), Karen van der Hoff (D.J.), and Tim Moran (Tamara). Cherished grandfather of Laura, Keith, Kara, Tanner, McKalyn, Sarah, Ayden, Layla and Noelle. Dear brother of Rose Biessel (late Frank), Ann McLaughlin (Tom), Judy Moran and the late Ed (surviving spouse Lorraine), the late Jim (surviving spouse Noreen), Also predeceased by siblings Gale, Ellen and Ken Moran. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

He took great pride in his work. George and his brother, Ed, formed a partnership and had a construction company called, “Edge Excavating”. Later, he became an owner operator and was fortunate to have owned many fine trucks. He drove for ESSO, Chinook, Laidlaw and Gorski Bulk Carriers. Committed to his community, he was the former President of the Port Lambton St. Vincent de Paul. He spent a great deal of time organizing the special food drive for the needy at Christmas time. George was a retired volunteer Firefighter and longtime member of the Port Lambton Athletic Association.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Sunday. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 11 AM. Cremation to follow, with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, at a later date.
