Police: Bear spray assault, MVC, threats

Pair assaulted with bear spray

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday night, two men approached a truck while in a parking lot on Murray Street in Wallaceburg and sprayed both occupants with bear spray.

The occupants exited their truck and ran to a nearby business for help.

Emergency personnel were contacted and the victims were transported to Sydenham District Hospital for medical treatment.

The two men, known to the victims, fled the area in their car.

Yesterday morning, police located one of the men.

The 32-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with assault with a weapon and administering a noxious substance.

He was released pending a future court date of June 18, 2019.

Police continue to look for the second man.

Woman charged with uttering threats

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance at an apartment building on Delaware Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a woman had threatened her neighbour.

The 57-year-old woman was arrested and charged with uttering threats.

She was released pending a future court date of June 18, 2019.

Man charged with resist arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a man riding a bicycle on Raleigh Street in Chatham without a light.

The officer stopped the man for this offence and he failed to identify himself.

As the officer placed him under arrest, the man resisted. Following a short struggle, the man was taken into custody.

A 36-year-old Leamington man has been charged and released pending a future court date of June 25, 2019.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Downtown Chatham Centre.

A 33-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000.

He was released pending a future court date of June 18, 2019.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Trillium Village in Chatham.

Police located the vehicle and through investigation, determined a woman in the vehicle was wanted for breaching her Probation Order and failing to attend court.

The 38-year-old London woman was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man at a residence on Charing Cross Road who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The 31-year-old Ridgetown man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early yesterday morning, police located an intoxicated man in the area of Park Street.

For his own safety, the man was taken into custody as he was unable to care for himself.

The 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

He was released when sober.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $12,000.

A 32-year-old Dresden woman was charged with failing to yield the right of way.
