WDSS ‘Chess Champion’ heading to Saskatchewan

A Grade 8 student at Wallaceburg District Secondary School will be heading to the Canadian Youth Chess Championships in Saskatchewan this summer.

After tying for second place in his age category at the Chatham Chess Challenge on April 3, hosted by John McGregor Secondary School, Joey went on to compete at the Ontario Youth Chess Championships in Kitchener on May 11 and 12.

There, he placed 14th and qualified to compete at the national event being held in Regina, Saskatchewan this July.
