Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, as significant rainfall is expected overnight through Thursday.
“Precipitation associated with an approaching low pressure system is expected to impact areas near Lake Erie beginning overnight or early Thursday morning and persisting until Thursday night,” forecasters say.
“Amounts are expected to be highly variable with this weather system with rainfall amounts of 20 to 50 mm possible.”
Ponding of water in low-lying areas may occur, Environment Canada officials stated.
