Trooper headlining Friday’s show

Juno-award winning Canadian rockers Trooper are headlining the opening night of the festival on Friday night.

Ra McGuire, Trooper’s front man, told the Sydenham Current their band enjoys performing LIVE anywhere, but especially in small towns – like Wallaceburg.

“We enjoy all our shows, no matter where they are, because they’re all so different,” McGuire said.

“Small town shows are more intimate and we often find (don’t tell the big cities) the people are nicer. Also, every small town seems to have a character of its own and it’s fun for us to plug into that.”

Trooper consists of McGuire, vocals; Brian Smith, guitar; Gogo, keys; Scott Brown, bass guitar; and Clayton Hill, drums.

Tom Cochrane with Red Rider headlining Saturday’s show

Tom Cochrane told the Sydenham Current he’s thrilled to come back to the Wallaceburg area to perform at the inaugural Otter Creek Jam Fest on Saturday, August 3, 2019.

“Are you kidding me… I think this is so cool,” Cochrane said.

“That we are the first and it’s the inaugural festival, so we are going to rock the place. We are going to have a great time. I’ll play a couple of acoustic songs in the middle, but there is going to be a lot of energy to this show. I’m so excited.”

Cochane added: “I have a lot of friends down in the Sarnia area and in Wallaceburg… I played back there, I can’t even remember the venue, but we used to go in there with our old step band and beat up car. I was in a band called Harvest and I was in a band called the St. Thomas Blues Band and we used to play down there in the ’70’s. So, we’re coming back victorious after all these years.”
